Review process and publication ethics

First, every paper is evaluated by the Editorial Board. Accepted texts are referred to two independent reviewers outside the institution affiliated by the author of the publication. Their final reports, prepared according to the MI’s criteria (see the Musica Iagellonica Review Form), are sent back to the editors within 3-4 months. Submitted manuscripts are judged solely on their scholarly merit and relevance to the scope and theme of the journal. A double-blind peer review process is used. The editors ensure that the identity of both the author and the reviewers is protected. The review process is supervised by the editor-in-chief. Reviewers are asked to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that they discover before accepting the assignment or during the review process, as well as to inform the Editorial Board if any intellectual property violations or other abuses are detected. The decision to publish or not to publish is made by the Editorial Board and the Advisory Board. If the contribution does not satisfy basic scientific criteria it is rejected by the editors without contacting with the reviewers.

The Editorial Board follows the principles formulated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (https://publicationethics.org). If unfair practices are suspected, the editors will decide to withdraw the text from publication and take explanatory steps. In the case of an ethical violation in an already published text, the editors will withdraw the article from the website with information about the reasons for the withdrawal, and in the case of a printed text, the editors will include a statement to this effect in the next issue of the journal. The editors will inform the author, the institution of affiliation, the reviewers and the affected persons of the case.

The reviewers submit their opinion in writing to the editor in electronic form, certified by their signature. The opinion should include a recommendation to accept, revise or reject the manuscript. In the event of conflicting opinions between reviewers, the Editorial Board will refer the manuscript to a third reviewer. His/her decision is final. The editors present the reviews to the author without revealing the identity of the reviewers. The author is obliged to respond in writing to the reviewers' suggestions before the article is published.

For Authors

Authors are responsible for the content of their articles. They must guarantee the originality of their work and be aware of the consequences of misconduct. The article should represent the intellectual property of the author. The text should not have been previously published or currently under review by other print or electronic journal publishers..

Each article should be provided with an English summary and keywords. All bibliographic references and citations should be set according to the Chicago style (see https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-1.html).

Proposals for articles should be addressed to Piotr Wilk, piotr.wilk@uj.edu.pl
